Gerald J. Gargiulo, Ph.D



Welcome to my website which provides information about my clinical approach as well as my books, publications, lectures and professional affiliations.




Gerald J. Gargiulo maintains a practice in Setauket, New York, and Westchester County, New York. Dr. Gargiulo brings over thirty six years of clinical experience to his practice. He is a very popular speaker and has lectured at academic institutions, professional organizations and lay audiences in the U.S., England and Canada. In addition to his writings and lectures on clincial issus, he has focused on the meaning of spirituality as it helps in understanding ourselves. His interests extend to philosophy and poetry as well. His approach to therapy is briefly outlined in the Treatment Goals page.

Dr. Gargiulo's most recent publication is a memoir Broken Fathers/ Broken Sons (Rodopi Press, 2008). For more details please see the Books & Articles page. Other texts include Psyche, Self and Soul (Whurr/Wiley Press, 2004); he also co-edited and contributed to Soul on the Couch (Analytic Press, 1997). He has published over ninety articles, both academic and popular. He is currently on the editorial boards of Psychoanalytic Psychology ; he is also an associate editor of Contemporary Psychoanalytic Studies (Book Series/Rodopi Press). Dr. Gargiulo is past president of the Training Institute of NPAP, and the International Federation for Psychoanalytic Education (IFPE). For more details please view the Resume page.
